Our Tundra slippers run a bit small, which is why we recommend choosing one size larger if you're unsure. If the shoe then fits a bit too loosely, our tip is to insert an insole (e.g., our 3mm or 5mm insoles).

Felt is largely self-cleaning and not very susceptible to dirt. Eventually, of course, it's time for a cleaning. Here's how:

  1. Preparation: First, shake out the slippers and brush off the dirt, e.g. with our felt brush.
  2. Hand wash: We recommend hand washing, but WoolFits with leather soles can also be machine washed.
  3. Washing machine: Use the gentle cycle at a maximum of 30°C. Do not use aggressive detergents. Instead, use a mild wool detergent.
  4. Care: Additionally, after washing, the shoes can be treated with our Lanolin wool treatment to restore the natural properties of the wool (dirt and water repellent).
  5. Drying: After washing, stuff the damp shoes with newspaper and let them dry at room temperature.

You can find more information in our care tips.

The leather sole is very durable and can be used outdoors (except when wet). However, it quickly discolors to dark, so we recommend using the shoes indoors if possible. Sharp stones can also damage the sole. The average lifespan of our leather soles is 2-4 years.

Classic felt slippers ‒ Minimalist, practical, chic

We are constantly coming up with new, extraordinary slippers and insoles. With the Tundra model, however, we deliberately focused on the essentials: a simple felt slipper, made from pure natural materials.

This minimalist design not only gives it
lightness, but also exceptional flexibility.

This makes it not only ideal for home use, but also proves to be a perfect companion for your next trip.

Who is the Tundra suitable for?

The Tundra is the ideal choice for anyone who wants to effortlessly slip into their slippers without needing to help them on.

This model is suitable for year-round use but is not as warm as most of our other slippers.

Therefore, it is particularly suitable for people whose feet quickly overheat in traditional slippers.

How is the tundra made?

The Tundra is not made from a single piece of felt (like, for example, the WoolFit Classic), but is sewn together from several individual parts.

For this purpose, felt sheets of the appropriate thickness and density are first produced by machine. These felt sheets are then cut into special shoe patterns developed for this model. The individual parts are then sewn together to connect them.

The prefabricated footwear is finally pulled onto a shoetree. On this shoetree, the outer surface is ironed, shaped and worked on until the desired contour and fit are achieved.

The production of the products is extremely gentle, as no toxic chemicals are used and no unnecessary waste is generated during production. All wool scraps are recycled or used as insulation material.

Sustainable Materials

We rely on sustainable & high-quality raw materials, including organic virgin wool from local shepherds, vegetable-tanned leather, and natural latex for bonding the soles.

By the way, what's special about our Kyrgyz wool is that it comes not from Merino sheep, but from Kyrgyz fat-tailed sheep. These animals live outdoors all year round and are exposed to the extreme climatic conditions of the harsh wilderness. Therefore, their curly wool is considered particularly warm and robust. The wool from these sheep is generally mulesing-free.

Feel free to read our blog post about wool. Here you will find much more detailed information about this great and versatile material.

Our Manufactory

The WoolFit Tundra is produced in Kyrgyzstan in a manufacturing facility run by women. The company is a collective consisting of various artisans.

We are incredibly happy to be working with this manufacturer, as it is considered a top employer in the country and the Kyrgyz people are very proud of this company.

We deal directly & without intermediaries, so that 100% of the money reaches those who actually make the slippers.

Wohlfühl-Puschen
