Care and Cleaning Tips for Felt Slippers
Even though wool is largely self-cleaning, your slippers deserve a little pampering now and then. Here are our recommendations for getting your felt slippers clean and well-maintained again.

Step 1: Beat out dust
After wearing them for some time, dust collects in your favorite shoes. The first step should therefore always be to shake them out. Tip: Be sure to do this outdoors (including the first "test shake").

Step 2: Brush
Most stains, lint, and fluff can be easily brushed off. Often, the shoes then look (almost) like new again and shine in fresh colors (except for grey WoolFits).
We recommend our WoolFit felt brush made from 100% natural bristles. It is important that the bristles are not too hard so as not to damage the wool fibers.

Step 3: Hand Wash
Slippers with leather soles can be washed without any problems. For slippers with natural rubber soles, however, it is advisable to wipe the felt with a damp cloth.
For grease stains or similar, hand washing is suitable. Important: The water should not exceed 30°C. We recommend a mild wool detergent instead of aggressive soap to keep the wool fibers supple.
Afterwards, reshape the wet shoe, stuff it with paper if necessary, and let it dry at room temperature (preferably near a heater).
❗️Note: If you wash your felt slippers with natural rubber soles, please do not place them on the heater or in the sun to dry, as the rubber is heat-sensitive.

Optional: Machine wash
WoolFits with a leather sole are machine washable, but we only recommend this as a last resort. Select the gentle wool cycle with a low spin speed and at no more than 30°C.
❗️Note: For shoes with a natural rubber sole, we advise against machine washing, as this can alter the structure of the rubber. The natural rubber sole should also be excluded from hand washing.
Afterward, reshape the wet shoe, stuff it with paper if necessary, and let it dry at room temperature or on a warm (not too hot!) heater.
Now your WoolFits should be fresh again!
Here’s how you can give them a little extra care:

Step 1: Caring for wool
The lanolin wool treatment is used to re-grease and care for high-quality wool and restores its natural water and dirt resistance.
To re-grease natural wool: Dissolve 1-2 teaspoons of lanolin wool treatment in 1 liter of lukewarm water. Dip the felt part of the slippers into the water bath, avoiding dipping the rubber sole as much as possible.
Massage the lanolin water into the felt, drain upside down and let dry.
Step 2: Leather sole care
Clean the leather sole with typical leather care products, such as a leather brush. Then apply a leather oil that protects the leather from drying out and makes it water-repellent again. A leather sole that is too dry tends to become brittle and cracked.
Special feature of completely hand-felted slippers:
Hand-felted slippers are usually felted more softly and therefore shed wool from time to time, a phenomenon known as "shedding." Simply remove the loose wool occasionally.
