Our Taiga slipper socks run a bit small, so we recommend choosing one size larger. The model fits snugly on the foot and is still very flexible, allowing for maximum freedom of movement.

Felt is largely self-cleaning and not very prone to dirt. Eventually, however, it is time for a cleaning. Here's how:

  1. Preparation: First, shake out the slippers and brush off the dirt, e.g., with our felt brush.
  2. Hand wash: We recommend hand washing, but WoolFits with leather soles can also be machine washed.
  3. Washing machine: Use the delicate cycle at a maximum of 30°C. Do not use aggressive detergents. Instead, use a mild wool detergent.
  4. Care: Additionally, after washing, the shoes can be treated with our lanolin wool treatment to restore the natural properties of the wool (dirt and water repellent).
  5. Drying: After washing, stuff the damp shoes with newspaper and let them dry at room temperature.

You can find more information in our care tips.

The leather sole is very durable and can be used outdoors (except in wet conditions). However, it quickly discolors to a dark shade, so we recommend using the shoes indoors if possible. Sharp stones can also damage the sole. The average lifespan of our leather soles is 2-4 years.

Warm feet, firm grip, and maximum coziness

Our slipper model Taiga is one of the most popular models in our range for good reason. It combines the natural comfort of a felt slipper with a modern, sporty style that clearly stands out from classic slippers.

The Taiga is a closed slipper that extends over the ankles and keeps feet pleasantly warm. Thanks to the practical heel tab and integrated elastic band, it is easy to put on and fits perfectly on the foot – without pinching. The high-quality wool felt gently adapts to the shape of the foot and ensures a comfortable wearing experience all day long.

The natural rubber sole provides a secure grip – even on smooth floors – and makes the Taiga a reliable companion in everyday life. By the way: The Taiga is also available with a vegetable-tanned leather sole.

Who is the Taiga with natural rubber sole suitable for?

The Taiga with a natural rubber sole is ideal for anyone who likes to move safely and actively, even at home. Its non-slip outsole provides a firm grip – especially on smooth floors such as tiles, parquet, or laminate.

Thanks to its zero-drop sole, the shoe remains pleasantly flexible and supports natural foot movement. This also makes it popular with lovers of barefoot shoes.

At the same time, the high-cut design offers noticeably more warmth and stability than open slippers – perfect for anyone who quickly gets cold feet or prefers a house shoe that provides all-around protection.

How is the taiga made?

Unlike our hand-felted models such as the WoolFit Classic, which are made from a single piece of felt, the Taiga consists of several carefully sewn-together individual parts.

First, felt sheets of the appropriate thickness and density are machine-produced. Then, special pattern pieces, specifically developed for this model, are cut from these sheets. After that, the individual felt pieces are precisely sewn together to create a stable yet flexible shoe shape.

The pre-formed upper is then pulled onto a shoe last, where the shoe is shaped, smoothed, and ironed – until the ideal fit and contour are achieved.

The entire production process is environmentally friendly and resource-efficient: no toxic chemicals are used, and any wool offcuts are fully reused – either recycled or further processed as insulation material.

Sustainable Materials

We rely on sustainable & high-quality raw materials, including organic virgin wool from local shepherds and natural rubber from rubber trees for the sole.

By the way, what's special about our Kyrgyz wool is
that it doesn't come from Merino sheep, but from Kyrgyz fat-tailed sheep. These animals live outdoors all year round and are exposed to the extreme climatic conditions of the harsh natural environment. Therefore, their curly wool is considered particularly warm and robust. The wool of these sheep is generally mulesing-free.

Feel free to read our blog post about wool. Here you will find much more detailed information about this great and versatile material.

Our Manufactory

The WoolFit Taiga is made in Kyrgyzstan – in a woman-led manufactory that is considered a true flagship company in the country. In the picture, you can see the two production managers.

Experienced artisans work there, practicing their craft with great care and passion.

We are incredibly proud of this partnership: the manufactory offers fair working conditions, is highly respected regionally, and is considered one of the best employers in the country.

The manufactory even recently made it into American Vogue magazine. Click here for the article.

Our collaboration is direct and without intermediaries – ensuring that all proceeds go to the people who actually make these slippers with their own hands.

Excellent

I'm not a big fan of closed house shoes, because they tend to make my feet sweat.
That is not the case with this natural product, I'm am so pleased.
They look good, they feel good, the quality is excellent!
My only critic is that they don't have my model in yellow :-)
