Felt is largely self-cleaning and not very susceptible to dirt. Eventually, of course, it's time for a clean. Here's how:
- Preparation: First, shake out the slippers and brush off any dirt, e.g. with our felt brush.
- Hand wash: We recommend hand washing, but WoolFits with leather soles can also be machine washed.
- Washing machine: Use the gentle cycle at a maximum of 30°C. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents. Instead, use a mild wool detergent.
- Care: Additionally, after washing, the shoes can be treated with our Lanolin wool treatment to restore the natural properties of the wool (dirt and water repellent).
- Drying: After washing, stuff the damp shoes with newspaper and let them dry at room temperature.
You can find more information in our care tips.
The leather sole is very durable and can be used outdoors (except when wet). However, it will quickly darken when used outdoors, so we recommend only using the shoes indoors if possible. Sharp stones can also damage the sole. The average lifespan of our leather soles is 2-4 years.

Felt Hut Shoes with EVA Insoles
Vitus Hut Slippers – hand-felted masterpieces that stand for comfort and warmth. What makes this model special:
It is hand-felted in one piece, making each pair unique. This special craftsmanship gives it a unique quality. In addition, with its hut slipper fit, it not only warms your feet but also extends over the ankles, keeping you comfortably warm.
As the only model in our range, the Vitus is equipped with a special EVA insole that offers excellent insulation against cold floors. So cold feet are a thing of the past.

Who is the Vitus suitable for?
The Vitus is the optimal choice for those seeking high-quality hut shoes with a particularly non-slip sole. This sole is perfect if you have very smooth floors at home.
Thanks to its removable EVA insole, this slipper can be easily upgraded with a cost-effective new insole after long wear and tear. Furthermore, the Vitus is also the right choice for people who use their own orthopedic insoles, provided these fit in shape and size.
The Vitus is the perfect companion during the cold season or year-round for particularly cold floors at home.
And not to forget, the Vitus is seamlessly hand-felted, making it an ideal choice for people with particularly sensitive feet.

How is Vitus produced?
The traditional manufacturing technique of a pair of Vitus slippers requires a variety of elaborate steps. Particularly time-consuming is the hand-felted blank, which gives each pair its unique comfort. For additional robustness, the felt in this model is processed with a hammer fulling mill in several passes.
If you want to learn more about the detailed manufacturing steps, you can find further information under this link.
The production of the products is extremely gentle, as no toxic chemicals are used and no unnecessary waste is generated during production. All wool scraps are recycled or used as insulation material.

Sustainable Materials
We rely on sustainable and high-quality raw materials, including organic virgin wool from local shepherds, vegetable-tanned leather, and natural latex.
Incidentally, what's special about our Kyrgyz wool is that it doesn't come from Merino sheep but from Kyrgyz fat-tailed sheep. These animals live outdoors all year round and are exposed to the extreme climatic conditions of the harsh natural environment. Therefore, their curly wool is considered particularly warm and robust. The wool from these sheep is fundamentally mulesing-free.
Feel free to read our blog post about wool. Here you will find much more detailed information about this great and versatile material.

Our Manufactory
The WoolFit Vitus is handmade in Kyrgyzstan in a female-led manufactory. The company is a collective of various artisans.
We are incredibly happy to work with this manufactory, as it is considered a top employer in the country and the Kyrgyz people are very proud of this company.
We deal directly & without intermediaries, so that 100% of the money reaches those who actually make the slippers.
